MULTICULTURAL COUPLES

online across Arizona, colorado, Iowa, Florida, New Mexico, and Texas.

A multicultural couple walking hand-in-hand down a sidewalk. The man is wearing a cream cap and jacket over black t-shirt and trousers, and looking over to the woman who is looking down, and wearing a cream jumper and black trousers.

You love each other, but your connection feels strained.

In the beginning, it felt easy. Your differences were part of the attraction: the food, the music, the way your families celebrated. When you were together, the rest of the world faded away.

Then life got real. Moving in, getting married, or having kids brought your families’ expectations to the table: who does what at home, how much to involve the in-laws, which language the kids will speak. Add work stress and the wear of facing discrimination, for one or both of you, and the pressure builds.

Now you’re noticing how differently you each cope. One of you wants to talk it out; the other needs space. One raises their voice; the other goes quiet. The same fight keeps coming back, and some days you wonder whether it’s worth it.

But deep down, you know you have something worth fighting for.

You’re tired of:

  • Having the same fight over and over, whether it ends in shouting, silence, or pretending nothing happened

  • Lying next to each other and still feeling alone

  • Being caught between your partner and your family, and defending each of them to the other

  • Compromising so much that neither of you recognizes yourselves anymore

How I can help

Couples therapy that understands both of your worlds.

Maybe you’ve tried talking to friends, family, or even another therapist, and it felt like nobody really understood. They took a side, missed the cultural layer, or gave advice that only fit one of your worlds.

In our sessions, you’ll each have space to share your story: your family, your culture, and what you learned growing up about love, conflict, and loyalty. I won’t take sides. Instead, we’ll find the cycle that keeps pulling you apart, and practice new ways of reaching each other in the moments that matter most.

I’m bilingual in Spanish and English, so you can each speak in the language that feels most true. Sometimes the most important things can only be said in one of them.

Disagree without it turning into a fight

✓

You’ll learn to notice when things are about to escalate, slow down, and actually hear each other, even when you see things completely differently. And when you do hurt each other, you’ll know how to repair it.

Stop fighting about the same things

✓

Most recurring fights aren’t really about the dishes, the holidays, or the in-laws. Underneath is a need: to feel respected, to feel chosen, to know your family and culture matter. Once you see what you’re fighting for, you stop fighting about everything else.

Feel close again, with all of who you are

✓

We’ll get curious about each other’s stories: where you come from, what love looked like in your families, and what you each bring. Being truly known by your partner is the antidote to feeling alone, even when you're together.

I want you to know:

Your differences don’t have to divide you.

The very things that cause friction your families, your cultures, how you each learned to love- can become what makes your relationship stronger and more yours than any other.
